We're the Terrence Downs family, life long residents of York. We admire the beauty that is York - and Highpoint Scenic Vista is the zenith spot. It is close to this peak where history rolled westward, into York Town - and thru it on the Moncacy Road, which led to the Great Wagon Road. My history research notes Benjamin Henry Latrobe was fascinated with the rises of hills west of the Susquehanna. Latrobe did an extensive study of this region, including Highpoint.
